boy’s bedroom

Our little client is a cool dude, has a penchant for lions, and the loveliest collection of books so we were delighted when his parents asked us to revamp his existing room and create a fresh space for him to grow into, adding colour and a little bit of fun!

We chose a bold petrol blue colour for the walls - it’s called New York State of Mind by Benjamin Moore - and although at first our clients had a pang of worry it might be too dark, we are so pleased they trusted us as in the flesh it looks even more incredible. We used Benjamin Moore’s Natura range - an ideal option for children’s rooms as it’s zero VOC and zero emissions. Absolutely no smell during the painting process and our little client could use his room and sleep in it just an hour after the painters left! We chose to paint just over half the height of the walls as the ceilings are very high and we didn’t want to overpower the room with blue.

We created a custom wall shelves for his collection of books - a clever IKEA hack using MOSLANDA wall ledges that were cut to fit the corner and spray painted in the same shade of blue as the walls. We jazzed up the existing bed with some cute bedding from Love Joba and cushions from Aura Living. The ceiling light is a bargain from Dragon Mart. The framed prints are a nod to our client’s Australian roots and some to Dubai their home. We used a washable rug with a Berber style by Lorena Canals. These are so brilliant for kids rooms as they’re 100% made of cotton and machine washable.
